Is Motivation a "Myth"?

“One of the best quotes I’ve ever heard says that if you want to increase the level of success, you need to increase the level of failure. There’s a difference between quitting and failing. I’m okay with failing a thousand times. As long as you just keep going and don’t quit, you haven’t really failed.” Embrace that mindset and you will never fail. You just won’t have succeeded—yet.”

Jeff Haden,

In this modern world, we all are trying to summon the motivation to do anything which we are procrastinating for. Like we say, I need the motivation to go to the gym, I need the motivation to start studying for my exam.

Motivation is a feeling like every other feeling you have. Your brain is deliberately trying to stay away from that work that should be get done by you. We think motivation comes first but actually, motivation is hidden in that particular work e. g If you are started a workout you may sometime do not want to go to the gym and think like I need motivation. But If you see the brought picture your growing biceps can give you the motivation to do harder exercise. This is event is known as the Dopamine hit feedback. So, as you can see short-term results will create the motivation for get going.

We never need the motivation to watch Netflix or just brushing our teeth. You wake up and straight ahead to the bathroom for brushing your teeth because it is your habit. Once something is your habit you do not need the motivation to do something. Once you have grown the habit and discipline you will no more in need of motivation you can do whatever you want.

The whole thing in a fun diagram :

                           (Discipline)

Thought                      →                   Action

(I should study)                                       (Studying)
